Brian Head Ski Resort
For the winter sport enthusiast, a multitude of activities await at Brian Head, 26 miles from Pinewoods Resort. Take a half-hour drive on the newly paved Mammoth Creek Road, or rent a snowmobile from Blue Pine Tours (www.bluepinetours.com) and go cross-country. Maps are available at the Brian Head Visitor's Center.

Cedar Breaks National Monument
Located nearest Pinewoods Resort, Cedar Breaks is well worth the twenty minute drive. From four viewpoints on Hwy. 148 the scenery opens up into a bowl of red rock spires; an amphitheater 2,500 ft. deep and three miles long. The cliffs fold and twist along the rim, which is over 10,300 ft. above sea level. Stands of spruce, firs and aspens grow right out of the cliff face, adding to the beauty of Cedar Breaks, especially in September when the leaves change. Similar colors and formations lead some to call it a mini-Bryce Canyon. The indigenous people called Cedar Breaks the "Circle of Painted Cliffs."

Cedar City, Utah
Only forty minutes away from Pinewoods Resort, Cedar City offers a busy contrast to the solitude of the mountains. The local university hosts the Utah Summer Games, along with the seasonal college athletics programs. Southern Utah University also offers a cultured environment through the Utah Shakespearean Festival and the Braithwaite Art Gallery, which displays international, regional, and local artistry. The Iron County Museum on Cedar City's Main Street showcases local history, with maps and information available as well.

Bryce Canyon National Park
Millions of years of wind and weather have eroded the limestone and sandstone of Bryce Canyon into strangely shaped pillars and spires, called hoodoos. Some resemble and are named after famous people, like Queen Victoria. The canyon was first called "Bowl-shaped Canyon Filled with Red Rocks Standing Up Like Men" by the local tribes.

Zion National Park
The oldest national park in Utah, Zion is also the most visited. With more than 2.5 million visitors annually, it's becoming one of the West's must-see sites. Massive stone towers rise from the forested canyon floor, with intermittent pools and waterfalls feeding into the Virgin River. Canyon walls range in color from reds and pinks to white and gold.

Las Vegas, Nevada
Just three hours from Pinewoods, experience the thrill of a big city in world-famous Las Vegas. Twenty-four hour entertainment is available in comedy shows, magic and variety shows, Headliners and concerts, casino resorts with various locality shows, dance clubs, and much more. Off the Las Vegas Strip, you can find championship golf courses, sporting events, 3-D theaters, museums like the Guinness World Record Museum, garden tours, and skydiving.
